E-Media workshop for students

The first teleconference workshop to enlighten secondary students to improve their knowledge on the use of web based multi-media technological skills will be held at the Government Information Department today.

It will be held under the patronage of Mass Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.

Mass Media and Information Ministry Secretary W B Ganegala and Higher Education Ministry Secretary Sunil Jayantha Navaratne will attend the workshop. Around 450 students and 200 teachers will participate.

This workshop has been jointly organized by the Government Information Department and National Distant Education Service of the Higher Education Ministry.

The chief advisors of the workshop are Dr S T Nandasara of the Information Technology Unit of the Colombo University's Computer Educational Institution and the Information Director General Professor Ariyaratne Atugala. The workshop will be linked with 20 distant education centres in 17 districts - Colombo, Kalutara, Gampaha, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Badulla, Moneragala, Ampara, Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Kurunegala and Trincomalee.
